Cleaning Boats, Waders and Boots

SAFE Angling Practice #10:
For much of the same reasons behind not transferring fish, even baitfish, from one body of water to another, there is an opportunity to prevent the spread of disease, virus, potentially harmful foreign bacteria, and other microorganisms that may be clinging to or harbored on various fishing equipment, primarily boats, waders, and boots. By cleaning them before fishing a new and different body of water, it can deter the spread of harmful microorganisms into another body of water where it could have substantial negative effect on the plants and animals of that particular stream, lake, river, reservoir, or other body of water.
