S.A.F.E. Angling Products: Bassroom

Bassroom - Recycled Fish"Cover Your Bass" has introduced "The Bassroom," the complete portable privacy system that allows you to spend more time on the water fishing by doing away with the inconvenience and embarrassment of those moments "when nature calls."

Cover Your Bass is the culmination of research and development from innovators Matt and Kirk Smith, a father/son team of fishermen from Texas, who have created the ultimate portable bass boat bathroom. The Bassroom system fits on most fishing boats. Aptly named "The Bassroom," this ingenious product fills the need for a portable bathroom system in a market that has overlooked and neglected its need for years. With privacy concerns, especially for tournament anglers, and today’s current "eco-friendly" movement, the Bassroom virtually eliminates the possibility of "over-exposure" while on your boat and also provides an environmentally safe alternative to lengthy trips back to the dock, launch, or marina. "We’ve created this product to fill a void that currently exists in today’s fishing arena" said Matt Smith, owner and creator of The Bassroom.

Bassroom - Recycled Fish"In today’s world you never know who has a camera or video phone and would enjoy the 10 minutes of fame by posting a video of you "caught in the act" on YouTube or similar social network websites. The price, privacy, and function of The Bassroom provides security and comfort for much less than the cost of embarrassment or possible legal fees for "over-exposure" while on the lake." says Smith. And while perhaps less of a concern for the weekend warrior, for the tournament angler the need for discretion is less an issue of modesty but professionalism and career longevity on heavily populated waters, sometimes with on-lookers, fans, and TV cameras.

One of the purposes of the Bassroom system is to protect and improve the quality of our waters by providing recreational boaters and anglers with a convenient alternative to the overboard discharge of boat sewage. While boat and shoreline sewage creates an aesthetic problem, the necessity of maintaining our water system goes beyond even this. Clean water is important to those who regularly use the water for rest, relaxation, and recreation for multiple reasons, and two ways for recreational boaters to take responsibility and improve water quality is to stop the overboard discharge of sewage and to never use lake or shoreline as a bathroom.

Human waste from boats creates environmental problems, especially in shallow or poorly circulating inlets, coves or marinas. Boat and human sewage introduces disease-carrying bacteria and viruses into the water which can sicken those who swim, ski, or fish in polluted waters. Untreated and decaying boat and human sewage also lowers oxygen levels in water, making it more difficult or impossible for fish and other aquatic life to survive. Studies are also being conducted and reviewed that are beginning to show startling results in terms of gender and reproductive mutations between fish living upstream and those living downstream of municipal waste water discharge facilities and drains.

Bassroom 3 - Recycled FishThe entire Bassroom system is stored in a handy transportation bag that can easily be tucked away in your boat until needed. With a total setup time of approximately a minute, one can quickly construct the Bassroom in times of an emergency or sickness and leave the unit assembled while you continue fishing, or simply fold it down and store. The Bassroom is also a practical solution for those anglers fishing or boating with children, or for those whose physical dependencies may necessitate the need for a restroom on board.

The Bassroom system itself consists of 190T polyester material with access doors on both the front and back equipped with over-sized zippers for easy handling. The polyester is waterproof and flame-proof to assure safety and comfort. The waste disposal bags contained in the full Bassroom system are convenient zip-up bags constructed of a sturdy 2 mil plastic material which effectively and safely handle the waste storage and transporting.

Although created specifically with fishing in mind, the Bassroom has also gained popularity with campers, tailgaters and others who find the ease of transport and privacy a welcome addition to their trips. The Bassroom can be set up on a boat, the back of a truck, or on the ground, providing a portable bathroom almost anywhere. Says Matt Smith, "The feedback we have received from customers has shown a wide demographic range from young adventurers to Pro Anglers."

Be part of the solution:
1. Do not use lake shoreline as a bathroom.
2. Use the Bassroom System when out on the water.
3. Dispose of waste from portable toilets and on-board holding tanks properly.
4. Never throw anything overboard.
5. Avoid discharging bilge waste into lakes, ponds, streams, oceans, or seas.
6. Take extra care in fueling to try to prevent oil and fuel spills.

Currently priced at $119.95 plus $10.00 shipping U.S. for the entire system, the Bassroom will provide years of service with proper handling and storage.
