Scott J Decker

Scott Decker - National Ambassador for Recycled FishScott, a multi-species angler from Kettering, Ohio became engrossed in the wonders of nature and the lure of the outdoors at childhood. Decker’s fascinations with the outdoors led to a life of self-education of the natural sciences and personal observations in the field. He grew up fishing for bass, walleye, crappie, catfish, rainbow trout, and northern pike in lakes, ponds, rivers and streams in Southwestern Ohio and Northern Kentucky.  As a teenager, Decker began traveling throughout Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee to explore new fishing opportunities and test his skills on different species.

His adventures lead him to Lake Erie for huge walleye and smallmouth bass, to Lake Huron for steelhead, salmon, to Lake St. Clair for musky and smallmouth, to Texas for big bass, and eventually to the Grand Canyon, Arizona for work and the cutthroat trout in the Colorado River.  In 1982, Decker began fishing open tournaments and BASS Federation events throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, and Tennessee.

Decker’s collegiate studies were in Political Science, but his career took him into the Environment Abatement Industry. His work as a manager of hazardous waste and Super Fund Cleanup sites earned him high commendation, but his true passion remained fishing and educating others about the joys of the outdoors. This led Decker to change careers and utilize his strong work ethic, positive attitude, and sense of humor to pursue his passion for fishing, conservation, and educating others about the outdoor experience.

In 2009, Decker joined the non-profit organization Recycled Fish, the organization of “anglers living a lifestyle of stewardship both on and off the water, because our lifestyle runs downstream.” He became the National Ambassador for the organization. Throughout the year, Decker attends fishing tournaments and outdoor events across the nation to raise awareness for issues that affect our fisheries. While at these events, he serves as a brand ambassador for Recycled Fish corporate partners such as Bullet Weights, VentaFish, Berkley, Daiichi Hooks, and Grabber Warmers. He has worked events such as the Toyota Texas Bass Classic, BASSMASTER Classic, PAA Tour Final event at Table Rock Lake, and has participated in many Grand Opening events for Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Decker does brand ambassador work for DICK’S Sporting Goods, Secret Weapon Lures, Ventafish Tools, Patriot Records, Elite Series Products, Gary Yamamoto, and Mac Squid Lure Retrieval System.

Decker’s favorite quote is, “Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers”-Tennyson.
